EMPLOYEE APPLICATION FOR REDUCED FEES
The employee should be a degree candidate, must file a regular undergraduate or graduate application, and be fully eligible for admission to the University.
Submission of the completed Admissions Application and related materials must take
place during a regular application filing period. Each campus of the University has
enrollment quotas that limit the number of new freshmen and advanced standing students
that may be admitted. Once these quotas have been filled, additional applications may not
be accepted. The application filing dates are available in the Undergraduate and Graduate
Admissions Offices. For undergraduates, as noted in the circular distributed by
Systemwide, the fall quarter applications filing period begins at least 11 months prior to
the opening date of that quarter, whereas the winter and spring quarters have filing
periods scheduled six months prior to their opening dates. Enrollment in some
courses is subject to the approval of the instructor. Reduced fees are
not available for Summer Session’s courses.
I understand that my enrollment is governed by Personnel Policies for UC Staff
Members, Policy 51
and/or the University of California Student Fees and Deposits Guide, Section 6. Exemptions,
Waivers, and Fee Reductions, which states:
a. An applicant must be a regular status employee in a career position [has
completed six months of employment and has passed the probationary period] (verified
by the Human Resources Office) or an academic employee appointed at more
than fifty percent time in positions other than titles where student status is a condition
of employment and not represented by an exclusive representative (verified by the
Office of Academic Personnel). Note: For staff and academic employees
represented by an exclusive representative, the applicable memorandum of understanding
should be consulted.
b. Payment shall be one-third of both the University Registration fee and
the Educational fee in addition to all other required fees. (To satisfy this
requirement student/employees receiving this waiver will not be eligible for the Reduced
Fee Part-Time Study program.)
c. At the time of enrollment, an employee may take up to, but no more than, nine
units or three courses per quarter, whichever is greater, and is ineligible for
any reduced fees (waiver) if this limit is exceeded.
d. At the time of enrollment, selected nursing employees may take up to, but no more that,
twelve units or four regular university courses per quarter, whichever is greater, and is
ineligible for any reduced fees if this limit is exceeded.
e. The employee is ineligible for the services and facilities of the Counseling Center or the Student Health Services.
